Our Community Gardening Projects
NICE/Narberth Area Garden Club Joint Projects
Since 2014, Narberth Area Garden Club has teamed up with NICE (the Narberth Improvement and Clean-up Endeavor) to create and maintain the Elmwood Avenue garden on SEPTA property at the Narberth Train Station. The Train Station garden has been certified as a Monarch Waystation and is a founding member of the Lower Merion/Narberth Pollinator Pathways program. In 2018, we expanded this partnership to include plantings in front of the Narberth Community Library. Garden Club volunteers provide design and maintenance services while NICE buys us our plants, provides arborist services as necessary, and interfaces with SEPTA for us. We have never used pesticides of any kind on either garden, even organic ones.
The Narberth Area Garden Club is the recipient of the Lower Merion Environmental Advisory Council 2019 “Go For The Green” Award.
The Lower Merion and Narberth Pollinator Pathway is a collaboration between the Lower Merion Conservancy, the Narberth Area Garden Club, the Friends of West Mill Creek Park, the Penn Valley Civic Association, and local residents to encourage the establishment of a corridor of pollinator and stream-friendly public and private properties within our local watersheds.
